Naked Oz man claiming he was straddling girl, 5, to keep her warm, nailed

Melbourne, June 16 (ANI): A drunken 58-year-old man has landed in jail after he was found lying naked on top of a five-year-old girl in a backyard tent.

The Tasmanian man, who cannot be identified, admitted to the charge of indecent assault but said he was just trying to keep the child warm, the Mercury reports.

The Supreme Court in Hobart heard that the man was hosting a family of five when the incident occurred on February 5 this year, reports News.com.au.

After the family went off to sleep, the mother became suspicious something was going wrong outside where her three kids, who were sleeping in a tent, and went to check with her husband.

When they approached the tent they heard their daughter cry: "I want mummy."

They also heard the offender reply: "Don't worry about mummy, I will keep you warm."

When the husband and wife opened the tent flap, they found the man lying naked on top of the girl, whose pants and underpants had been removed. The offender had an erection.

While explaining what he was doing, the man said: "Just keeping the children warm."

The parents informed the police who arrested the man later that night.

Justice Alan Blow has imposed a nine-month jail term and ordered the man be placed on the sex offenders register for seven years upon his release. (ANI)
