Letterman apologizes for 'bad' joke about Palin's daughter

New York, June 16 (ANI): Comedian David Letterman issued a formal apology for delivering a raunchy joke at the expense of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's daughter, saying he takes "full blame" for the "bad" joke.

"I told a bad joke. I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception," he said on Monday's show.

"And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke."

"It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault that it was misunderstood," the New York Daily News quoted him, as saying.

"So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future," Letterman said.

Last week, the CBS funnyman joked Monday about Palin's recent New York visit that "during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

Palin was furious. On several occasions last week, she lambasted Letterman for his "sexually perverted comments".er husband Todd said "any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable." (ANI)
