Indo-Sino Border: Sukhois inducted at Tezpur

New Delhi, Jun 16: The Indian Air Force formally inducted the frontline fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30 MKI at Tezpur, Assam on Monday, Jun 15. The strategic positioning of the SU-30 MKI is a move to beef up the security along the Indo-Sino border.

The all-weather aircraft was inducted in a symbolic ceremony that was graced by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal S.K. Bhan and other officers.

Earlier this month an anonymous military source has revealed that India had intensified its security along the North East by deploying two additional army divisions, along with a squadron of frontline Sukhoi Su-30 MKI combat jets.

The Su-30 MKI was brought into the Indian Air Force in 1997. Tezpur airfield was established in 1942, British Royal Indian Air Force which developed into full-fledged Indian Air Force base in 1959.
