Five Punjab students hospitalised with suspected flu symptoms
Jalandhar, June 16 (ANI): A day after seven students, who arrived from the US, had tested positive for H1N1 virus, five others belonging to the same faction were on Tuesday hospitalised subsequent to suspected swine flu symptoms.
"We have admitted five more students of the group after symptoms of swine flu were noticed in them. Their blood samples were sent to National Institute of Communicable Deceases (NICD), Delhi for testing," said S S Walia, chief surgeon at Civil Hospital.
The 12 belonged to a group of 30 students and three teachers who had recently been to US on an education trip to NASA.
"Surveillance has been accelerated and medical examination of those who came in contact with the students is on. Tamiflu tablets and surgical masks are being distributed among the vulnerable persons," Walia added.
Meanwhile, the fellow students and their families were advised to be vigilant about any symptom of the virus. (ANI)
