Mehsud booked for Pak religious scholar's murder

Lahore, June 14 (ANI): The Pakistan police has registered an FIR against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud, charging him of being involved in the assassination of the counrty's top religious scholar, Dr Sarfraz Naeemi Al-Azhari, who along with his three close associates were killed in the suicide attack on the Jamia Naeemia mosque here on Friday.

The FIR has been registered by the Qila Gujjar Singh Police on the complaint of Naeemi's son, Sarfaraz Naeemi, The Daily Times reports.

Meanwhile, protests and agitations continued in various parts of the country against Naeemi's assassination.

Various political and religious organisations, such as the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, had announced a shutter-down strike and national mourning in Karachi on Saturday.

All business centers and educational institutes remained closed for the second consecutive day in the city. (ANI)
