Fire guts textile market in Surat
Surat, June 11 (ANI): A massive fire engulfed a textile market in Surat late on Wednesday night.
The fire broke out in the basement of the Abhishek textile market.Fire fighters were called in, who had a tough time controlling the fire, as there was no means of direct entry into the shop where the fire had started.
"There is no means of entry into that shop but still we have managed to get inside a neighbouring shop and have controlled the fire. We are also inspecting whether the fire has spread to other shops or not," said JM Kotwal, chief fire officer.
Goods worth thousands of rupees were expected to have been gutted in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still not known, though fire officials suspect a short circuit could have led to the fire. (ANI)
