North Cachar Hill (Assam),June 10 (ANI): At least 14 houses in a Dimasa tribal village were set ablaze on Wednesday in Assam's strife-torn North Cachar Hill district.

According to police, suspected Zemi-Naga tribals burnt down 14 houses at Jiribasti under Haflong Police Station at around 4 a.m..

There was, however, no report of any casualty or injuries, the police said.

Several persons have been killed and houses set ablaze in ethnic clashes between the Dimasas and Zemi-Nagas in the past few months.

On June 8, Zemi-Naga tribals had burnt 40 houses.

Violence has rocked the Hill district with militant outfits Dima Halam Daogah (jewel) and the rival NSCN(IM) as well as Khaplang factions targeting public, trains and public installations.

Security has been beefed up in the district, especially sine the arrest of DHD (J) Chief Jewel Garlosa who is presently under National Investigating Agency (NIA)'s custody. (ANI)
