NCP MP's arrest: M'htra opposition demands action

Mumbai, Jun 8: Fueled by arrest of senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Padamsinh Patil, the opposition of the Maharastra legislature led by Ramdas Kadam demanded resignation of state Home Minister Jayant Patil and Information Minister Rana Jagjitsinh Patil, who is also the son of the accused.

The opposition raised slogans against the state alleging that it was shielding the Padamsinh Patil who was found guilty of killing his cousin Pavan Raje Nimbalkar, a Congress leader.

Shiv Sena's Ramdas Kadam raised this issue on Monday, Jun 8 and asked the two ministers resign, and with demanded the government to provide a detailed statement on the issue.

Patil was charged with the murder and criminal conspiracy and was arrested on Sunday, Jun 7. He was later remanded to CBI custody till Jun 14 by a court in Panvel.
