Pak defence analyst forecasts Swat-like operation in Waziristan
Lahore, June 7 (ANI): Pakistan's political and defence analyst Ejaz Haider has predicted that the Pakistan Army would soon launch a military operation in Waziristan, the "centre of gravity" for the Taliban.
The Daily Times quoted Haider as saying that the military operation is inevitable, as it is essential to neutralize the Taliban's power in the tribal agencies of North and South Waziristan.
He said the Malakand operation had been launched to cut the Taliban's supply line, adding that military would stay in Swat for at least another year.
Haider added that Operation Rah-e-Raast could not be considered complete unless the Talban top leadership is arrested or killed.
"There is a need for a "cooperative mechanism" between NATO forces in Afghanistan and Pakistani security forces to effectively deal with the Taliban on both sides of the Durand Line," he stressed. (ANI)
