Suicide blast kills policeman in Islamabad

Islamabad, June 6 (ANI): One policeman has been killed and three others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of Rescue-15 building here on Saturday.

According to Geo news, policemen stationed at the main gate of Rescue-15 building offered resistance and shot dead the accomplice of the suicide bomber.

Police forces have cordoned off the area to allow rescue services to evacuate the injured to nearby hospitals.

Twenty to twenty-five police vehicles surrounded the building and helped rush the hurt and wounded to safety.

Official sources said that the suicide bomber may have jumped over the boundary wall of the complex, and exploded his device in the compound immediately adjacent to the office, which may limit casualties.

Police confirmed that at least one policeman lost his life during the attack, after he attempted to open fire on the bomber, but no further casualties have been confirmed so far.

Islamabad had been on a state of high alert, but the significant police presence and the presence of a newly constructed security wall outside the Rescue 15 Office could not halt the attack, which sources claim may have been a suicide attack. (ANI)
