Indo-Pak relations should not be affected by Saeed's acquittal: Kaira
Islamabad, Jun.4 (ANI): Pakistan's Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the arrest or release of an individual should not affect ties with India.
Kaira was referring to the release of Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed.
Kaira said Islamabad is eager to resume bilateral dialogues with New Delhi to deescalate the tension prevailing between both neighbors.
"Relations between Pakistan and India are dependent on the responsible attitude of the two states," The Daily Times quoted Kaira, as saying.
Kaira, objected to India expressing concern over the Lahore High Court order to release Saeed, one of the prime accused in the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, saying it was not right for another country to comment on verdicts delivered by the judiciary of another nation.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna had said that Saeed's release had cast doubts about Islamabad's sincerity in fighting terror.
"Terror has to be fought and has to be contained. It is regrettable that Pakistan has resorted to this. This only shows that Pakistan's seriousness about fighting terror is still under a cloud," Krishna had said.
In reply, Pakistan termed India's concerns as 'misplaced'. (ANI)
