Racial Attack: Oz man bashes Indian taxi driver

Melbourne, Jun 1: After the recent racial attack on Indian students in Australia, now an Indian taxi driver (Cabbie) from Hyderabad was allegedly bashed up by a drunken man in Melbourne.

The 35-year old victim picked up the reportedly inebriated passenger from the Chapel street for Blackburn suburb and was allegedly beaten up by him. The passenger reportedly asked the cabbie to take him to Ringwood when they reached Blacburn. But his cab's tyre went flat and the driver informed the passenger that he cannot take him any further. The passenger reportedly started abusing the cabbie.

He also reportedly bashed up and punched the cabbie who hails from Hyderabad. The man was later taken to Alfred Hospital by the police, who then informed the family. He was discharged on Monday, Jun 1. Victim's family members said that police have arrested the culprit.

However when the news agencies contacted the Hospital, authorities refused to provide any details of the victim. There was also no official confirmation of the incident so far. The victim also said that this is opportunistic and not racial attack.
