NWFP govt.'s blunder: jailed militant's picture in most wanted list
Peshawar, May 31 (ANI): In yet another gaffe committed by the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) government, the list of the 21 most wanted militant commanders released by it recently also included the name of a person who is already languishing in jail.
According to The News, the list of NWFP government's most wanted extremists also included the name of one Taliban commander Liaqat. But it has been learnt that Liaqat is already in prison in Dera Ismail Khan.
The government has released an advertisement recently in which Liaqat was identified as a local Taliban commander in Swat's Khwazakhela area, and a bounty of two million rupees was also mentioned before his name.
Jail superintendent of the Dera Ismail Khan prison, Khalid Abbas was bemused to see Liaqat's photograph in the list of most wanted terrorists, as he was already behind the bars. He reported the matter to the Inspector General of Prisons, Akbar Khan, in Peshawar, after which the mistake was rectified.
It was second such incident where the NWFP government had faltered while mentioning details of wanted militants.
Recently, it had published a photograph of a Mingora based bank officer against the name of Qari Mushtaq, a top Taliban commndar belonging to Gulibagh region. (ANI)
