Russian land forces chief in India

New Delhi, May 25 (ANI): The Commander-in-Chief of Russian land forces, General Vladimir A Boldyrev, who is on a week-long visit to India, was given a guard of honour here on Monday.

General Boldyrev received a guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

General Boldyrev is accompanied by a top Russian military delegation.

His visit is expected to strengthen defense ties between India and Russia.

Boldyrev will discuss joint operation in mountain-warfare training with his Indian counterparts.

From New Delhi, General Boldyrev would fly to Leh to inspect the 14th Army Corps and visit training facilities. He is also supposed to tour Indian military facilities in Siachen to inculcate Indian army's mountain fighting techniques in his forces.

During his visit, General Boldyrev will hold talks with Defence Minister AK Antony and Chief of the Army staff, General Deepak Kapoor on military cooperation between Russia and India.

As part of his itinerary, the army chief would visit airborne troops in Agra and a training centre in Goa. (ANI)
