Lanka Defence Secretary seeks international support to arrest key LTTE operative
Colombo, May 25 (ANI): Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, has appealed to the international community to help Colombo arrest key LTTE operative Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP.
Pathmanathan is the head of the LTTE's international wing, and is reportedly based in Bangkok, Thailand.
The request came in a live interview he gave to the 'Derana' TV channel on Sunday night (May 24).
Gothabaya Rajapaksa said Interpol has issued a red alert for the arrest of KP, but urged the UN to take the request more seriously.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asked UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon to have KP arrested and handed over to Sri Lanka.
Rajapaksa made the request to Moon when the two met in Kandy two days ago. (ANI)
