Congress-DMK stalemate ends

New Delhi, May 24: Media reports suggest that the deadlock between Congress and its ally DMK over ministerial berths in the Cabinet is over. DMK has agreed to go with three Cabinet berths.

DMK leaders MK Azhagiri, A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran will get Cabinet portfolios, but Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu will be dropped from the government. Reports suggest that TR Baalu will be accommodated as Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

A Raja is likely to retain the Communication and Information Technology Ministry and Dayanidhi Maran will be given the Textiles Ministry. Azhagiri will be made the Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister.

Meanwhile, Kanimozhi, MK's daughter and the DMK's face in New Delhi is likely to be Minister of State, Women and Child Welfare. DMK is also set to get four ministers of state in the government. DMK ministers will be sworn-in on Tuesday, May 26.
