Infosys to hire 1,000 techies in US

Houston, May 21:Infosys Technologies, India's leading software firm is planning to hire about 1,000 people in United States in the next 12 to 18 months amid the global slump.

Kris Gopalakrishnan, the Infy Chief Executive said that company plans to add more than 1000 new employees as part of a big US expansion in anticipation of growth resuming in 2010.

"We believe business will be there if we add capabilities, more services and solutions to our portfolio and increase the business volume with the existing customers -- that's how we see growth coming to our business," Gopalakrishnan said. He added that Indian economy is in early stages of recovery.
