Prabhakaran shot dead: SL defence sources

Colombo, May 18: Sri Lankan defence sources said that LTTE chief Vellupillai Prabhakaran's body has been reportedly recovered from an ambulance troops destroyed as it sped out of the war zone early on Monday, May 18. However there was no official confirmation about the report.

There are also reports of Prabhakaran's death in major news agencies like Reuters and AFP. Reuters claims that Prabhakaran's body is recovered while AFP claims that he was shot dead when trying to flee. Unconfirmed reports in media suggest that the Army is waiting for the official announcement by the Sri Lankan President, Mahila Rajapaksa.

Lankan TV channel broadcast images of the Prabhakaran's son Charles Anthony's corpse for the first time on Monday, May 18.
