BJP leaders meet to analyse poll results
New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met here on Monday to analyse the setback that the party suffered in the recently concluded polls.
The leaders, including Chief Ministers of several BJP ruled states, met at the residence of senior leader L.K. Advani to decide the party's future course of action in wake of its dismal performance in the polls.
The issue of Advani quitting the role of leader of the opposition was also likely to be discussed in the meeting.
Advani had declared his wish to step down as the opposition leader after the party and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) suffered a setback in the polls.
The BJP despite its win in some states, conceded defeat at the national level with the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition winning overwhelmingly.
The alliance led by Congress party bagged 262 seats, sweeping aside the NDA led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which could manage just 159 seats. (ANI)
