Manmohan likely to appoint Montek Singh as FM
New Delhi, May 17: Manmohan is likely to appoint the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia as the next Union Finance Minister, say Congress sources.
Appointment of M Ahluwalia is favoured from both inside and outside and if he does get appointed, he will be making his entry via the Rajya Sabha like the Prime Minister.
Party leaders have insisted that UPA does not need to bring in any of the allies for support and that Congress will keep all the key portfolios within the party.
Rahul Gandhi who is now coming to be known as the 'star campaigner' is likely to get into the cabinet following the demand for it. Rahul is likely to be included as the Rural Development Minister in the Cabinet.
P Chidambaram will also be continuing as the Union Home Minster as per demands.
With the Prime Ministerial seat being taken over by Manmohan Singh, the race for other berths in the Cabinet is on the full swing.
