Abhinav Bindra's father arrested for cheating

Chandigarh May 15: Abhinav Bindra's father AS Bindra was arrested by the Delhi police on Thursday, May 14 evening for defrauding millions of rupees from the nationalised and private banks.

Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi police arrested AS Bindra from his farm house in Punjab. Bindra had taken loans around Rs.90 million from various banks for setting up his Punjab Meats Ltd plant at Derabassi town Chandigarh in Punjab few years ago.

Police officials told to media that Bindra complained of chest pain immediately after he was arrested. He was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and was examined.

AS Bindra is likely to be taken to Delhi on Saturday, a police officer said. Abhinav Bindra bagged India's first ever gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
