Varun moves SC to quash his detention under NSA
New Delhi, May 13: Varun Gandhi of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has on Wednesday, May 13 approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash his detention under the National Security Act (NSA) for alleged hate speech.
This move comes a day after the UP government decided to challenge the revocation of NSA against Varun Gandhi by the advisory board.
Varun's petition supports his plea arguing that the state advisory board has recommended revocation of the law. This was presented before a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan.
The Apex court has said that Varun's plea along with the plea of the Mayawati government will be heard on Thursday, May 14.
