Speculation on post polls prospects

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): CPI (M) Politburo member Sitaram Yechury has that its party would decide on any post-poll alliance only after the results were out.

"We will decide on our future prospects only after May 16," he said.

The CPI (M) and other smaller parties have forged the 'Third Front' that challenges the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Meanwhile, Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the party was confident of running a coalition government, but did not give any details about any possible shake-up.

"Whether individually or collectively we know very well how to conduct coalition ethics. We have done it successfully and will do it successfully. We will do this exercise after May 16," said Singhvi.

Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) supremo Ram Vilas Paswan said that the coalition could take a call on support from the 'Third Front' if it fell short of a majority.

"If the United Progressive Alliance attains majority then there wouldn't be any issue but in case if it doesn't or a situation arises where we have to give or take support from the Third Front then a collective decision would be taken on it," said Paswan.

So far, elections have been completed to 457 seats since the exercise began on April 16.

The counting of votes will take place on May 16. The 543-member House will be constituted before June 2. (ANI)
