Xylo production hit by Nashik labour strike

Mumbai, May 12: The four month old, multi-seater Xylo is currently facing a hurdle in production due to a 4,400- workers strong labour strike at Nashik.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)'s Nashik plant that produces the vehicle which has see a good market reception has been shut since five days.

Says Rajesh Jejurikar, M&M"s chief of operations (automotive sector), "The strike will alter delivery schedules. There has been no change in demand."

The company now faces trouble with delivering the cars to the market. The workers on the other hand show no signs of softening to the management"s overtures citing that the company has delayed signing salary agreements for 22 months.

M&M is deliberating over a back-up plan.
