Varun Gandhi barred from holding rally in UP
Lucknow, May 10: Varun Gandhi, the BJP candidate from Pilibhit consitutency was prohibited from addressing a rally in a Muslim-dominated area of Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district in fear that it could lead to a law and order problem.
However the district authorities permitted him from holding a rally at some distance from the area. Varun was to address the rally in Faridpur to garner support for Santosh Gangwar, who is the BJP candidate for the Bareilly parliamentary seat.
The young BJP leader had courted controversy earlier for his alleged 'hate speech' against Muslims in his constituency. National Security Act was slapped on Varun and was jailed by the UP government.
