Militants destroy a second shrine in Peshawar

Peshawar, May 8 (ANI): Militants have destroyed a second shrine in Peshawar, weeks after destroying the Rehman Baba shrine.

Police said the Sheikh Omar Baba shrine was completely destroyed on Friday morning.

The attackers fled from the scene when police opened fire at them. They, however, returned again to obliterate the shrine with heavy explosives.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the militants shifted religious books and Qurans from the shrine to the nearby mosque before the explosion.

In a related development a market was blown up in Peshawar's Adezai Area. Twenty-five shops were reportedly destroyed by the blast. There were no casualties. (ANI)
