Prachanda calls Khanal to discuss political developments in Nepal
Kathmandu, May 6 (ANI): In his first political meeting after the resignation, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today held discussion with CPN (UML) leader Jhala Nath Khanal.
During an hour-long meeting here, the duo discussed improving relations between the two parties, formation of the new government and the Constitution making process.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Prachanda said that they agreed to continue the politics of cooperation and consensus not to let the peace process derail.
Prachanda, when asked by the reporters about the controversial video tape in which Prachanda is seen telling PLA combatants in a meeting at Shaktikhor located cantonment in Chitwan how the party swindled all into believing that the number of PLA was 35,000 when it was actually not more than 8,000, refused to comment but vowed to bring out the party view shortly.
He said his party would clarify the contents of the video tape that surfaced yesterday where he is seen telling his PLA combatants to be ready for another 'revolution.'
He also refused to talk about the Maoist threats to cadres of other parties in several districts.
Meanwhile, senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that Prachanda's video tape has been publicised to shadow the 'unconstitutional' move of President Ram Baran Yadav and to spread negative message about the Maoists in the public.
He claimed that making public the video that was tape-recorded prior to the Constituent Assembly (CA) election is a conspiracy of some political parties to conceal their crimes.
In a query on the new government formation, Bhattarai said the new national government including the Maoists can not possible until President Yadav corrects his 'unconstitutional' move and Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal is sacked.
Maoist party spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said the video has been distributed by elements, which do not want civil supremacy and want to obstruct the peace process, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
