Six killed in Bihar car-truck crash
Sonepur (Bihar), May 3 (ANI): Six persons died in a tragic head-on collision between a car and truck near Sonepur on the Hazira-Chapra highway in Bihar on Sunday.
The accident took place in the early morning hours.
According to an eyewitness, both the car and the truck were speeding from the opposite directions, and soon after the collision, the truck capsized and caught fire.
Both the vehicles were burnt almost completely.
"A car was going from Chapra while the truck was coming from the opposite direction on way to Chapra from Hazira. The two vehicles collided and the truck went topsy-turvy and caught fire. Approximately eight to 10 persons were inside the Ambassador car," said Ashok Kumar, an eyewitness.
However, the Sub Divisional Officer of Sonepur, Rajendra Gupta, was of the view that the fire must have been caused from the wood which the truck was carrying.
"The truck was laden with wood which has caused the fire. When thefire is completely doused, the number of causalities will be known. There is a possibility of more casualties," said Rajendra Gupta, sub divisional officer, Sonepur. (ANI)
