Security forces stage flag march ahead of polls in Agra
Agra, May 3 (ANI): With a view to ensure free and fair polling during the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 7, security personnel staged a flag march in Agra, Uttar Pradesh over the weekend.
The flag march was conducted to infuse confidence among voters that adequate security measures are in force to ensure a peaceful casting of votes.
Police personnel sported the latest anti-riot accessories during the flag march.
Besides the Uttar Pradesh Police, 700 Home Guards, 13 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 7 companies from the Border Security Force (BSF) will be deployed at different locations in the city.
"To restore the confidence among the people and to ensure free and safe atmosphere in the election, we have staged the flag march. We are also displaying the anti-riots accessories and kits. We will take strict action against those creating any untoward incidents," said Prem Prakash, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Agra Range.
India is currently holding general elections to the Lok Sabha in five phases, which commenced on April 16.
The first, second and third phases of polling were held on April 16, 23 and 30 respectively.
The final two stages will be held on May 7 and 13.
The outcome of the five-stage elections will be known on May 16. (ANI)
