Singer Ayman Udas ‘shot by brothers for TV sin'
Islamabad, May 3: A rising musical star, Shamim Ayman Udas was reportedly shot dead by her two brothers ashamed of her growing popularity. A frequent performer on Pakistan's PTV, Udas sang and wrote composition in her native Pashto language, spoken in the tribal areas and the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP).
Ayman Udas murder portrays the rising influence of the Islamic Fundamentalists in the area. Despite Udas's popularity her family felt it was sinful for women performing on television and strongly opposed her.
Media report suggest that her two brothers Alamgir and Ismail reportedly entered her flat last week while her husband was out and fired three bullets into her chest. Udas, a mother of two had remarried just ten days before she was shot dead.
