Pak can take care of Sikhs: Pak to India

Islamabad, May 2: Reacting over India's concern over Taliban imposing tax on the Sikhs and demolishing their homes in the tribal belt, Pakistan has on Saturday, May 2 said that the issue was of 'no concern' to New Delhi.

Calling India's concern a 'verbal demarche', Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said, "Pakistan is fully cognisant of the issue of the Sikhs and of the welfare of all its citizens, especially the minorities."

The issue of Sikhs being demanded for 'jiziya' or tax imposed on non-Muslims was taken up on Friday, May 1 with the Foreign Office by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad said sources.
