Haqqani claims Petraeus refuted saying next two weeks critical for Pak govt
Lahore,May 2 (ANI): Pakistan's Ambassador to US Husain Haqqani has said that US CENTCOM chief General David Petraeus did not made any comments suggesting that the next two weeks are critical for the Pakistan Government's survival.
Haqqani said that after media splashed reports about General Petraeus' comments, he had talks with the CENTCOM chief who denied giving any such statement.
"Even if he (General Petraeus) had given any such statement, it would have been covered by the world media and not by only Fox News," The Daily Times quoted Haqqani,as saying.
Haqqani also said that the Pakistani media had misunderstood Obama's statement in which he called Pakistan's democratic government 'fragile'.
"He meant that the Pakistani government institutions are not strong and effective," Haqqani clarified. (ANI)
