CPN (UML) threatens to quit Nepal govt. if Maoists sack CoAS
Kathmandu, May 1 (ANI): The ruling CPN (UML) has threatened to quit the government if the Maoists sack Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Rookmangad Katawal.
The decision was announced last evening at an emergency meeting of the UML's Standing Committee.
"The party will boycott cabinet meetings if the Maoists try to impose their decision unilaterally. We could even quit the government," nepalnews quoted UML vice chairman Vidhya Bhandari, as saying.
Earlier, UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal had asked the Maoists to come to any conclusion only through consensus.
Meanwhile, the final decision on whether to sack CoAS or not has been deferred by at least a day. (ANI)
