Yahoo India lays off 60 employees
Bangalore, Apr 30: Yahoo! Inc, the global search engine giant reportedly sacked around 60 people from its Bangalore-based R&D centre. The Internet giant recently announced its decision to cut its global workforce by 5 pc.
Yahoo! is also planning to hire about 150 professionals in India in areas like product engineering. Majority of the employees are laid off on performance ground, while some of them on account of reorganisation. California based company would continue to hire in business-critical areas in India.
This is the second lay off Yahoo India will be undertaking following global announcements. In 2008 Dec, the company had served notices to 3 pc of its India workforce due to the global economic crisis.
