Voting begins for 3rd phase of Lok Sabha polls
New Delhi, Apr 30: Voting for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls commenced on Thursday, Apr 30 morning in 107 constituencies in 9 states and 2 union territories.
About 1,567 candidates' fate will be decided by about 144 million people. The Election Commission has deployed 200,000 electronic voting machines at 165,000 polling stations and 600,000 election officials for the polling.
Among the key contesters include Sonia Gandhi, the Congress President from Rae Bareli in UP, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate LK Advani from Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
HD Deve Gowda of Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), BJP leader and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh are also in the fray.
