Government will review stand on Swat accord if deal fails to convince people : Zardari
Lahore, Apr.27 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said the government would be compelled to review its stand on the Swat peace deal and the Nizam-e-Adl Regulation if the people of the region opined the accord has failed to establish peace.
"When the people of Swat feel there is no peace even after the regulation, then the provincial government, assembly and the parliament can give their opinion on this issue," The Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.
Zardari, however, said local clerics of Swat should be given more time to bring change in the situation.
"The situation deteriorates, but it takes time to correct the situation. They should be given time," Zardari said.
Referring to the recent statements by the United States that asked Pakistan to 'do more' in the 'War on Terror', Zardari said there is a need to hold talks with the countries who demand it to do more.
"It is time to bring to their attention that let us get together and strengthen each other to able to achieve more. Do more is not the answer. Achievement is the answer," he added. (ANI)
