10-year-old hangs self in fear of punishment

Lucknow, Apr 26: Fearing of being punished and scolded for stealing Rs 5 from his home, a 10-year-old boy ended his life by hanging himself in Lucknow.

The tragic incident was reported from Wazirganj police circle of Uttar Pradesh. The family of the boy identified as Zaheer (Monu) said that since their financial condition was poor they hardly gave the boy any money to spend. Zaheer in the morning was asking money from them but when he was refused, he stole Rs five.

But he was caught red-handed by his sister and she threatened to inform the parents about the incident. The boy got scared and went upstairs. Later he was found hanging in a room on the terrace. Police have taken the body for postmortem.
