Prabhakaran may flee in a submarine: SL Army

Colombo, Apr 24: Sri Lankan army said that the LTTE chief V Prabhakaran who is still hiding in a small strip of land in the Island nation may escape using a submarine.

Brigadier Shavendra Desilva, the General-Officer-Commanding 58 Division of Sri Lankan army said, "Prabhakaran, who is present in the no-fire zone along with his son Charles Anthony, Tigers' intelligence chief Pottu Amman and Sea Tiger chief Soosai, might have retained a submarine to escape from the island."

He added that this information was revealed by LTTE media in-charge Daya Master, who surrendered to the army earlier. Daya Master and George, a close aide of slain Tiger political wing head S P Thamilchelvan, gave themselves up to the army at Putumathalan in the no-fire zone on Apr 22.

Daya Master also said to the army that though the LTTE chief claimed that he would not leave the area, Prabhakaran would flee at the first given opportunity. Sri Lankan navy have put a blockade around northern Mullaittivu close to the areas where LTTE rebels still have access to the sea.
