Sri Lanka sends special emissary to India
Colombo, Apr 22: The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be dispatching a special emissary to India to facilitate the rehabilitation of the massive group of Tamils who fled from the embattled zones to the safer government held zones.
Rajapaksa has said that he will be sending his special advisor and brother Basil Rajapaksa to India to discuss the humanitarian situation.
"Basil Rajapaksa will be leaving for India. But no dates have yet been finalised. The visit will be undertaken shortly," official sources said.
With over 120,000 people in relief camps, the President has ordered officials to provide immediate assistance to them.
