John Lennon once dreamt of playing for Liverpool
London, Apr 21 (ANI): Late Beatles member John Lennon is said to have been a very talented footballer, with dreams of playing for English football club Liverpool.
Pete Best, 67, who was the band's original drummer before being replaced by Ringo Starr in 1962, revealed how Lennon always had a ball at his feet before the band rose to fame, and how they used to have a kickabout.
"John had the best skills in the band. He could play a little bit, to be fair," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
"We were always kicking a ball around when time allowed, like any youngsters.
"We dreamed of playing for the big clubs," he added.
As The Beatles began to find fame, manager Brian Epstein advised them not to pledge allegiance to either Liverpool or Everton for fear of dividing fans. (ANI)
