Anand Sharma slams Advani for repeatedly criticizing Manmohan Singh
Bhubaneswar, Apr 20 (ANI): Senior Congress leader and Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Monday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani for repeatedly calling Manmohan Singh a 'weak Prime Minister'.
"When Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh reminded Advani of his record as the home minister, he started crying. Then the BJP started complaining. We had not indulged in any personalized attacks. We had only shown Advani the mirror," Sharma said at a press conference here.
When asked about the alliance between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharma said that the debate is meaningless.
"NCP's alliance with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is meaningless when it comes to the Congress. Our alliance with the NCP is only in Maharashtra. The Congress had made it clear in 2004 and now in 2009 that we have only pre-poll seat sharing with political parties," Sharma added. (ANI)
