Ashton Kutcher trumps CNN to become 'First Twitter Millionaire'

London, Apr 17 (ANI): Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher has become the first user to have more than one million followers on Twitter.

The hunky star pipped CNN to claim the landmark victory on the microblogging site.

CNN conceded defeat on Friday after a competition which Kutcher said highlighted how social networking websites were transforming the media.

Early on Friday morning UK time, Kutcher's aplusk feed went over the million mark, reports The Telegraph.

CNN's Breaking News feed also passed the milestone about half an hour later.

Kutcher posted a short message - or "Tweet" - to his million-plus followers declaring: "You guys are amazing."

Among updates on world affairs on its page, CNN posted a message which read: "Congrats @aplusk. Ashton Kutcher is the first twitter account to reach 1MM followers."

Ashton overtook Britney Spears, who was short of the milestone with 958,706 followers on Friday morning UK time, to win. (ANI)
