2,041 candidates face political test in second phase of LS polls

New Delhi, April 17 (ANI): The second phase of general elections will witness a total of 2,041 candidates, including 121 women contestants' political fate being put to vote for the 141 Lok Sabha seats.

Polls for the second phase are scheduled for April 23.

Statistics released by the Election Commission showed that as many as 377 candidates are contesting for the 25 seats in Maharashtra followed by 324 contestants for the 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 271 candidates will try their luck for 17 seats in Karnataka, 254 candidates for 20 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 198 contestants in 13 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 189 persons for 13 seats in Bihar.

Bangalore Central Parliamentary seat in Karnataka and Pune constituency in Maharashtra will have maximum 37 and 36 candidates respectively.

Meanwhile, an interesting contest is in the offing with a maximum of seven women candidates contesting for the Baramati parliamentary constituency. The list include NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule. (ANI)
