Pak: Suicide bomber kills 16 in NWFP

Islamabad, Apr 16: A suicide bomber killed 16 people on Wednesday, Apr 16 in the troubled North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan.

The suicide bomber who was in a bomb filled truck crash his truck into the police check post in Harichand village, on the outskirts of Charsadda city, killing 16 people, including 10 police personnel and injuring many others. The suicide bomber detonated the explosives when he was asked to stop at the check post 35 kilometers away from the NWFP capital Peshawar.

A Deputy Superintendent of Police and a Station House Officer were two officiers killed among the ten Police personnel, and others were civilians.

Some officials believe that it was retaliation act to Police in Charsadda recently thwarting a suicide attack against a leader of the Pakistan People's Party, Sherpao. the region also has a strong presence of Taliban.
