Naxal Attack: Bloodshed on first day of polling

Ranchi, Apr 16: On their way to the polling station near Aara village six border security force (BSF) personnel were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoist rebels in Latehar district, Jharkhand on Thursday, Apr 16.

"Six BSF personnel were killed in a landmine blast in a jungle near Aara village. Police officials haverushed there to assess the situation," said Sarvendu Thagat, Latehardistrict Deputy Police Commissioner.

The BSF personnel were going for their polling duty on a bus when the attack took place in the early hours. After the blast the Maoists attacked the bus which was followed by a gun battle between the jawans and the rebels.

This incident has taken place only a day after eleven naxals were killed in the gunbattle between BSF jawans and the rebels who attacked BSF camp in Bihar.
