India Inflation near zero at 0.18 pc

New Delhi, Apr 16: Annual rate of India"s inflation fell to 0.18 per cent for the week ended Apr 4, from 0.26 per cent the week before as per the data released by the government of India.

Inflation rate was 7.71 per cent during the corresponding week in 2008. Though there is consistent fall in the inflation, this is not reflected in the price of food articles.

Wholesale Price Index (WPI) of primary articles group rose by 1.1 pc. Food articles group index rose by 1.2 pc as a result of steep rice of fruits and vegetable prices. However, the price of tea declined by 1 pc.

As the Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) price, naphtha and light diesel oil was hiked the 'fuel, power, light & lubricants" index rose by 0.5 pc.
