23-yr-old American student gangraped in Mumbai
Mumbai, Apr 16: A 23-year old foreign national was gang raped by 6 of her batchmates in a Mumbai apartment. The girl is said to be an American scholar perusing a diploma course at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) at Deonar.
The victim said in her statement to the police that she and 6 of the accused left the campus on Saturday, Apr 11 for Andheri, where they partied at a hotel. Later she went to a flat owned by one of the accused. It was here, she was raped repeatedly while in an unconscious state.
Medical reports had confirmed rape. However the TISS sources said that the accused were not students of the institute. Police said that the accused were Vinamra Soni, Jaskaran Singh Bullar (alias Karan), Harsh, Anish, Devasi and Kundan. Police has arrested three of the accused. A manhunt is launched to nab rest of the culprits.
