Sensex jumps over 11,000 mark
Mumbai, Apr 15 (ANI): The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark sensex witnessed its best closing session since mid-October, when it crossed the 11,000 mark on Wednesday.
The BSE, which had opened at 10,805.14 points, wrapped up at a much brighter note at 11,284.73 points, gaining 2.9 percent.
After losing 248.04 points in the opening trade, the 30-share barometer, at 2 p.m. had improved at 11,220.92 points as most of the heavyweight stocks led by realty recorded handsome gains.
National Stock Exchange's Nifty gained 3.35 per cent or 113.45 points to close at 3496.05. The 50-share index rose to a high of 3497.55 during the day.
While the BSE midcap index gained 4.10 per cent, the BSE smallcap Index soared 5.34 per cent.
The major index gainers were DLF (10.56 percent), BHEL (10.41 percent), Tata Motors (9.97percent), ICICI Bank (8.65 percent) and Reliance Infra (8 percent).
On the other hand, Infosys (-3.13%), TCS (-1.81%) and ITC (-0.88%) recorded the largest losses. (ANI)
