Extra marks to students if they convince their parents' caste vote
Pune, Apr 14 (ANI): A school in Pune has decided to give two bonus marks to students of political science if they convince their parents to vote in the upcoming general elections.
"Those students whose parents vote and confirm that they have voted with their signatures beneath, then those children will get two marks extra in their final civics examination," said Shivraj Pimpude, history and civics teacher of the 'Gurukul' school.
The school has initiated this move for children studying in classes five and seven. There are 106 students falling in this criteria.
The idea is an instant hit among parents, who feel other schools should emulate it.
"Children should understand the importance of voting, and when they came home and told us about it, we really liked the idea and felt it was a good medium to get across an idea. I think other schools should also emulate it. We are happy that our children will get two marks extra and this will also encourage children to make sure that they go and vote in the future," Meena, a parent. By Shivaji (ANI)
