Former Haryana CM Bhajan Lal to contest from Hisar
Chandigarh, Apr 11 (ANI): Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal will contest the general elections from Hisar parliamentary constituency on a Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) ticket.
Lal, the nine-time MLA and two-time MP, would contest against Congress' Jai Prakash and Indian National Lok Dal's (INLD) Sampat Singh.
Lal had floated the Congress in December 2007 after being sidelined in the state unit of the party. He was later disqualified from the state assembly for forming a separate party while being a member of the Congress.
Bhajan Lal's son and HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi has decided to not to contest elections this time.
Bishnoi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket from Bhiwani parliamentary constituency in the 2004 elections, was also disqualified as an MP on similar grounds.
The polls in Haryana are scheduled to be held on May 7. (ANI)
